Stand-Up Coaching
I offer private, one-on-one stand-up coaching sessions. I work with all levels and I will help you find your jokes' purpose and give them a shape. My technique combines teaching fundamentals and asking lots of questions....almost like a therapy session at times, to get important information before you write your punchlines. Together, we'll learn why are you telling this joke, why does it matter to you, what are you trying to convey, etc.)

Testimonials for Robin's services:

"Working with Robin Tran as my comedy coach has been an incredible experience. She is thoughtful, sincere, and genuinely invested in helping comics grow. Robin took the time to watch my sets and gave detailed, constructive notes along with a helpful joke-writing guide. During our sessions, she is fully present, attentive, and supportive. Her guidance has been a tremendous help in my development, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to sharpen their comedy." -Donna Tannehill

"Robin is a great coach who will not only help you with your current set, but will teach you how to ask yourself the right questions to find your comedic voice. Our coaching sessions were fun and informative; she gave me the blueprint to dive deeper into jokes and bits and interrogate what makes them funny to me. If you’re struggling with structure, self confidence, and/or the writing process, go to Robin! Even better, she takes notes during session and will send them over to you after. I went in with 12 minutes of material and left with 25 minutes by the end of our first session! Highly recommend working with Robin!!" - Rea Kapur

“Robin Tran has more than established herself as a one-of-a-kind talent; fearless and wry, she understands comedy at a high level. Watch any of her clips and you’ll see she has x-ray vision when roasting opponents. She peers into the souls of her targets and destroys any sense of undeserved confidence. Perhaps it’s this innate ability to read people and transform their personality and insecurities into jabs that make her such an astute teacher. I’ve had the privilege of taking Robin’s comedy coaching sessions and I can proudly say my comedic sensibilities and joke writing precision have grown making me a stronger writer in not just stand up, but other mediums as well. Patient but more importantly, fun, Robin is a comedy master whose facilitation will improve the nascent skill set of any aspiring comic. Even veterans who have battleworn microphones over the years can learn a thing or two from this guru.” -Greg Roque

"Thanks to Robin, I didn’t just get great notes, I also got encouragement, validation, and learned wisdom! With just one hour together, what started as a set of jokes I was unsure of became something I was proud of and eager to get in front of an audience. I felt more emboldened by one hour with Robin than an entire week of open mics. Respectful, punctual, empathetic, and so many other traits that don’t always come naturally in the comedy scene, Robin has them in abundance!" -Justin Avery Smith

“Working with Robin during the extremely early stages of my writing gave me the boost I needed to move forward. She provides ample support as well as thoughtful feedback/guidance. We went over my ideas together, and she helped me organize them into a cohesive piece that still has room for any necessary tweaks. If you feel stuck or don’t know where to begin in your stand up writing, reach out to Robin ASAP! You won’t regret it.” -Donna

"My coaching session with Robin was everything I was hoping for because it included both feedback on specific jokes and overarching observations & advice about my approach to comedy as a writer and performer. Most importantly, it was just a lot of fun to spend time with someone who clearly, very genuinely loves comedy and jokes and wants to get to the bottom of what is funny, authentic, and interesting. Robin is hilarious and encouraging, and she will draw out your strengths and encourage you to trust the parts of yourself that can craft a joke that only you could tell. I really benefited from her perspective and highly recommend." -Christie Bahna
